Objects with Power
April, 2019
A snippet from a journal entry for my Creative Writing course. Based on a necklace that I personally own, and threaded with heavy emotions that I could not have even made up for the simple purpose of creating this short prose.
The necklace lay deep within the jewelry box. Tucked away in a silk bag, stashed in a corner at the bottom. Its diamonds had not sparkled in the sunlight since it had been handed over – amid tears and sobs – to its current owner.

Simile to Analogy
April, 2019
A journal entry for my Creative Writing course. Inspired by the wild and independent nature of one of my closest friends. This technique takes a simile and creates a logical explanation through vivid imagery.
The first time I saw her she looked like an angel dropped from heaven for having too much fun. The flower crown around her head—fashioned with yellow tulips—showed off her free-spirited soul that could not be contained within heaven’s traditional halo. Her auburn hair was messy and long, with some parts braided and others nearing dreadlocks.

Movie Camera Exercise/Short Sentences/Dialogue-Driven Narrative
April, 2019
A small snippet from my Creative Writing final portfolio. This piece includes three main writing techniques: Movie Camera, Short Sentences and Dialogue-Driven Narrative. I titled this piece 'Chapter One' as there is more to the story to follow, but I'm not too sure exactly how yet! My inspiration for this prose came from the Netflix series 'Riverdale', so if you're a Riverdale fan you may pick up some cues!
Chapter One
The diner seemed still and quiet from her view across the street. At such an early hour in the morning - just minutes before the sun was set to rise - she knew that the diner’s car park was about to be bombarded with the trucks of the construction boys, and the tired picnic tables due to be full with early morning rush hour. She squinted to try and make out the old red leather booth through the window closest to her, but the morning dew was still seeping down the glass so that all she could see was a blur of red. Weird, she thought. Frank Miller usually has the whole place clean and ready for service by now – he’s very meticulous about that sort of thing.
